J. Michael Broyles

"Due to his work in creating a more efficient work environment and in mediating the impact of Hurricane Sandy on the Authority and its end users, J. Michael Broyles is being honored with a 2020 Individual Wave Achievement Award. With the Authority since 2004, Mike has been instrumental in finding ways of running the treatment process more efficiently, including changing the activated sludge process to allow the Authority to run with fewer blowers for most of the day, and optimizing the plant's performance while increasing the effluent quality and level of removals. He has also been instrumental in the plant's recovery and mitigation from Super Storm Sandy. Colleagues note that Mike always takes time out of his day to attend project meetings, review plants, and make recommendations for improvements, all while keeping the plant running at peak performance. For these efforts, he is being recognized with this award."
